How Cherlume uses AI
Cherlume uses artificial intelligence to generate or edit images from user-provided photos across Worlds and Experiences — including Future Baby, Couple Portrait, Pet Mix, Pet Portrait, memory restoration, colorization, enhancement, and share-ready exports.
Generation runs on our servers through third-party AI providers; it is not performed entirely on your device.
What is sent to AI systems
- The photos you upload for the selected Experience (which may include faces of people or images of pets).
- The Experience type and the prompts, options, or parameters you choose.
- For some Experiences, intermediate or final outputs may also be sent for automated quality or safety evaluation.
- These inputs are sent to AI providers solely to produce or evaluate your result. See our Privacy Policy for details on providers and data handling.
Nature of AI results
- Results are AI-generated or AI-assisted and may be inaccurate, unexpected, stylized, biased, offensive, or imperfect.
- Lighting, pose, image quality, and model behavior can affect outcomes.
- Cherlume does not guarantee resemblance, accuracy, or a specific artistic style every time.
Future Baby
Future Baby images are artistic, speculative AI visualizations for entertainment and creative use only. They are not genetic, medical, biological, or factual predictions of what a child will look like.
Future Baby is not scientific analysis, fertility guidance, or parentage verification. Do not use these images for medical or legal decisions.
Other Experiences
Pet Mix, Couple Portrait, Pet Portrait, and Memories Experiences produce creative outputs — not factual records, breed certifications, or historical proof.
Restore, colorize, and enhance Experiences are AI-assisted reconstructions. They may invent, simplify, or modify details and may not recover every original detail faithfully.
Pet-related personality or trait descriptions shown in the app, where present, are playful entertainment — not veterinary, genetic, or behavioral assessments.
Photos, people, and consent
- Upload only photos you own or have permission to use.
- Obtain consent from any identifiable person shown in your uploads before processing their image.
- Only upload photos of children with the consent of a parent or guardian, and only where lawful.
- Do not upload photos of third parties to create deceptive, harassing, or harmful content about them.
- Do not upload sensitive, illegal, or non-consensual imagery.
Prohibited content
You must not use Cherlume to create or attempt to create:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexual content involving minors.
- Explicit sexual content or non-consensual intimate imagery.
- Extreme violence, gore, or content that promotes harm.
- Harmful deepfakes, impersonation, fraud, or content meant to deceive or damage reputations.
- Harassment, hate speech, threats, or the exploitation of any person.
- Content that infringes others' intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
Responsible use of results
- Do not use AI results to mislead, impersonate, harass, or harm others.
- Do not present Future Baby or other outputs as real photographs of future or past events when they are AI-generated.
- Do not use generated images as identity documents, medical or legal evidence, or factual records.
- Follow applicable law and platform rules when sharing results.
Labelling and transparency
Cherlume may display labels such as AI-generated, AI-modified, AI-assisted, or Speculative AI result during upload, generation, on results, in your gallery, and when sharing.
Non‑Pro users may see a Cherlume watermark applied when saving or sharing, as configured in the app. This is a visible brand watermark on exported images — not a machine-readable compliance mark.
We are working to improve transparency features over time, including clearer labelling and additional export disclosures where technically feasible.
Synthetic and manipulated media
Some Cherlume outputs may resemble real people or pets. They are synthetic or AI-assisted media, not authenticated photographs.
You must not use generated or modified images to deceive, impersonate, harass, defame, mislead, commit fraud, or present synthetic media as factual evidence, identity proof, or news.
Safety and automated checks
We run automated checks on uploads and generations, including file validation, image checks, and quality or safety gates. Some Experiences may use automated AI evaluation. We may refuse generation requests, block results, or stop processing that appears to violate our terms, this policy, or applicable law.
Some content may fail generation after these checks. We may also suspend accounts for safety or compliance reasons.
Reporting AI-generated content
If a result seems inappropriate, unsafe, or violates these policies, you can report it from the result screen in the app. Reporting opens an in-app form with a reason and optional details so our team can review the issue.
We review reports and may take action where appropriate, including blocking future generations or restricting account access.
Service providers
Images, prompts, and parameters may be processed by trusted third-party AI and infrastructure providers to generate or evaluate results. Confirmed providers in our stack include fal.ai and Replicate for image generation, OpenRouter for automated evaluation and planning, Supabase for storage and authentication infrastructure, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for optional push notifications.
